About me

What is Cranio Sacral Therapy?
Is a very subtle form of hands on treatment that uses gentle pressure on bones and soft tissues of the body, particularly the face, the head, the spinal column and sacrum.

The principles are that the imbalance in the body’s structures restricts the movement of blood and other fluids, and interfere with the nerve supply. This can produce pain and ultimately can produce disease.

Therefore balancing the body structure allows better function of the internal working of the body.

How does it work?
In a craniosacral therapy session, the patient remains fully clothed and lies on a treatment couch.

By taking up one or more gentle hand contact on the head or other areas, the Practitioner releases restrictions in the Cranio sacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system and to help to restore it to its optimum expression.

Therapists are trained to feel for a subtle rhythm that is present in all body tissues called the Cranio Sacral rhythm or involuntary motion.

By monitoring this rhythm the therapist can detect whether something may be preventing healthy movement of the body tissues.

Cranio sacral therapy enhances the function of the Central nervous system and raises vitality by supporting the body’s natural healing process.

The source of the tension in the body is detectable in Cranio sacral system, It is most easily felt via the bone of the skull (Cranium), sacrum, spine (Central nervous system), linked with every organ, muscle and via nerve, fluids and connective tissue.

In response to physical knocks or emotional stress, the body’s tissue contract. Sometimes, particularly when the shock is severe or occurs within an emotional situation, the tissue stay contracted.

Any stresses, strains, tensions or traumas which have been "stored" in the body in this way will restrict the body’s functioning and may give rise to problems over the years. The effect, may be both physical (such as back pain, migraine or digestive disorders) and emotional (such as anxiety or depression).

Restriction in the body’s functioning show up the way that craniosacral motion is express.
